The Director Compensation is responsible for design, development and deployment of tools, process and consulting around all enterprise-wide and/or customer compensation programs that support UnitedHealth Group and client group objectives of attracting, retaining and motivating key talent with programs that are competitive and responsive to external influences and internal objectives.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide a full spectrum of consulting and analytical compensation services by translating segment strategic direction into meaningful compensation plans
  • Apply best practice compensation principles to provide compensation solutions designed to support business, team and leadership strategies
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of business issues and priorities; effectively analyze and diagnose problems; provide clear advice and recommendations to help client make sound business decisions; establish credibility and trust by delivering on commitments
  • Partner with executive leaders and the human capital team to develop appropriate compensation strategies, policies, programs and communications. Influence decision-making at all levels using a balance of compensation expertise, business acumen, objectivity, and relationship skills; advise and influence business partners and leaders in compensation strategy, programs and issues using this balanced perspective
  • Base pay program management and incentive plan design and administration considering internal factors, industry best practices and business needs 
  • Support mergers and acquisitions with involvement from due diligence through the integration phase
  • Drive and/or participate on enterprise-wide compensation projects including policy and program development and automated solutions
  • Provides leadership to other members of the team
