Job Description

Clarion Psychiatric Center serves children, adolescents and adults who have psychiatric and behavioral problems.  We hold ourselves to the highest standards of quality, accountability, and service excellence, to ensure that we are delivering the most effective care available today. The food that is prepared and served to our patients and employees is a vital part of the total experience that we provide.

The Dietary Director oversees all culinary functions for the hospital, providing outstanding dining options for patients and staff on a daily basis, and for guests at special functions. Plans menus and manages a team of associates to prepare food and provide exceptional service.  Other responsibilities include budget preparation and controlling expenses, purchasing, inventory control, sanitation standards, safety practices, staffing, and staff development. Assures compliance with standards of practice and regulatory requirements. Coordinates food service activities with other hospital disciplines.

 

Job Requirements

Qualified Candidates will have:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership strength to an hourly staff.

  • Fiscal management experience including managing budgets within company and client targets.

  • Strong knowledge of food trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Certification/Degree from an accredited culinary school, or a Bachelors degree in nutrition, dietetics, hospitality, business or related field; Certified Dietary Manager or Registered Dietitian preferred; experience in lieu of certification/degree will be considered.
