Fremont Hospital is a fully accredited, 148-bed acute psychiatric hospital, providing quality care and assistance for children, adolescents, and adults. Our full spectrum of care includes 24-hour, no-cost assessments, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, partial-hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, and a chemical dependency intensive outpatient program. For over 20 years, Fremont Hospital has been a leader in the field of mental health and chemical dependency care.

Fremont Hospital is currently seeking an experienced Dietary Director to join our leadership team.

The Dietary Director is responsible for overseeing all functions of the Dietary Services Department which includes Clinical Nutrition and Food Services.  The Dietary Director will collaborate with other hospital departments and hospital Administration to focus on quality food services, sanitation and nutrition services.  In addition, hospital and department goals will be met with attention to meeting budgetary goals through use of cost-effective behaviors and proper resource allocation, yet keeping up-to-date with industry and regulatory standards.

The Dietary Director is also responsible for performing as a Clinical Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.  In this role, the Dietary Director will provide medical nutrition therapy that is integrated in the patient’s individualized treatment plan.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures provision of Quality Services:  maintain appropriate resources, staffing levels, competency of staff and maintenance/performance of equipment

Regulatory Compliance:  ensures regulatory compliance through education, policies, procedures and maintenance of records.

Performance/Quality Improvement:  apply principles of continuous quality improvement in delivery of service by assessing, measuring and evaluating processes and systems. Act as an active member of hospital committees (e.g. Quality Council, Safety Council, Peer Review, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, etc.).

Human Resources:  oversees employee interviewing, selection, orientation/development and performance evaluations.

Clinical Nutrition Services:  provide individualized medical nutrition therapy with attention to specificity and understanding of disease state, readiness and ability to change, age, race, cultural considerations, etc.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or related area.  Granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university.  Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Requires a minimum of (3) years of experience in related field with progressively responsible management experience.  Must have thorough knowledge of TJC, CMS, OSHA and state and federal regulatory requirements.

Licensure:  Must be an active Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Additional Requirements:  CPR with AED certification must be current and presented to Human Resources upon hire.  Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training course to be completed within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting with preventative intervention measures.  Must meet pass pre-employment physical exam, drug screening, criminal background check and professional business reference inquiry.
