Education Director / Principal - Wyoming Behavioral Institute

                       

Wyoming Behavioral Institute, a UHS Facility, is seeking a dynamic and talented leader for our educational programs located in Casper, WY.

 

Education Director / PrincipalMay be Part-Time or Full-Time depending upon qualifications and departmental needs assessment

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Education Director is responsible for maintaining the high quality of the school’s educational and clinical programs, as well as day-to-day operations, and will be supported and supervised by WBI’s Chief Operating Officer.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead, collaborate, and help define WBI’s educational program for patients with mental health needs.

  • Develop a quality educational delivery process for students that uses best practices within a mental health hospital setting.

  • Interact with students, staff, and families.

  • Use education to accelerate the recovery process by broadening the intellectual, social, and emotional horizons of patients.

  • Demonstrate understanding of patient rights.

  • Implement company policies and procedures for the entire education program including maintaining the school’s accreditation.

  • Lead the alignment of standards for the delivery of instruction.

  • Develop curricula that follow Wyoming state standards and benchmarks. 

  • Communicate education mission and goals to teachers.

  • Ensure a free and appropriate education and leading the IEP process.

  • Ensure that all core subject areas are being taught according to Wyoming state standards and benchmarks.

  • Track and communicate school and individual student progress toward meeting standards and benchmarks.

  • Support teachers in developing and maintaining appropriate individual academic and behavior plans.

  • Maximize collaboration among hospital staff to support the educational and mental health needs of patients.

  • Expand the use of technology for staff and students to support the educational and mental health needs of patients.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required to have a minimum of a Master’s in Education, Psychology, or a related field. Proven leadership ability required. Excellent leadership skills. Ability to facilitate and run meetings. Strong understanding of evidence-based practice in educational processes. Experience working with individuals with mental health disabilities in an education setting. Experience supervising other professionals (teachers, clinicians, and/or other administrators). Wyoming Administrator certification or eligible for certification. Training/experience in Special Education and Positive Behavior Supports is desired.
