POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of the Clinical Laboratory is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of the department and for the ongoing assessment and improvement of the activities within the department. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the Laboratory, but also the integration of the department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. Overseeing, supervising, and administrating all department activities will be in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and will comply with all criteria mandated by appropriate accrediting and licensing agencies (College of American Pathologists, CLIA ’88, American Association of Blood Banks).

11. Additional as it pertains to job duties

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

1. Bachelor’s degree with a major in medical technology, microbiology, chemistry, biology or related science is required.

2. Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisory position is required.

3. Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or National Certification Agency (NCA) required.

4. Mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the undergraduate or graduate level is preferred.
