Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of multiple nursing units.  Such responsibilities encompass the internal processes of the Department and integration of the units into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Director supports an organizational culture for safety and Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

Exhibits effective leadership skills through planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating departmental functions in relation to the UHS and the NWTHS vision, mission, strategic goals and values and in accordance with The Joint Commission’s leadership standards

  1. Provides departmental leadership through annual and ongoing goal development and evaluation related to the strategic plan and mission.

  2. Promotes and maintains standards of Nursing care and assesses professional Nursing practice as related to specific clinical department oversight.

  3. Approaches problem-solving methods proactively.

  4. Participates in and promotes professional networking and is involved in community activities.

Job Requirements


  1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  2. Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas

  3. BSN required.

  4. Master’s degree preferred

  5. Appropriate clinical experience

  6. 3 – 5 years leadership experience
