Job Description

Poplar Springs Hospital, a 173 bed acute care and residential facility, is located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes north of North Carolina. Situated on 25 acres, our serene, nature-like setting offers our patients a sense of calmness and peace. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, sexually abusive youth services, as well as programs for active duty military.

Poplar Springs Hospital is looking for an ideal candidate to fill our Business Office Director. The Director plans and coordinates the activities and efforts of Poplar Springs Hospital’s Patient Accounting functions in accordance with facility policies and procedures. The Director role is responsible for all aspects of and staff involved with the fiscal portion of patient admissions, to include the collection of financial information from patients or guarantors, the billing of all third party payors, and all phases s of the collection process associated with patient accounts/accounts receivable. Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required with pertinent experience to perform all administrative and operational responsibilities.
  • Equivalent experience and ability may be substituted for educational experience.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.*

General Requirements:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.

Special Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively present information to groups.
  • Ability and willingness to work professionally in a team with other personnel, patients, families, etc.
