Job Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Performance Improvement Director (PID) assists the leadership, medical staff, and PI Committee in designing, planning, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive and integrated performance improvement program.  The PID will measure and improve facility systems and processes in order to contribute to safer and higher quality care.  The structure and functions of the PI Program are designed so as to comply with guidelines and standards of The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, state licensure, other regulatory agencies with guidance and recommendations from the Corporate Clinical Director.  The PID and Director of Risk/Quality will work collaboratively in improving the quality of care and coordinate daily workload utilizing shared support staff.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrates competence in the human stages of growth and development.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, Social Work, or Health Information Management  and currently licensed to practice in the State of Kentucky as a Nurse or Social Worker or nationally through AHIMA as an RHIA. Five years of clinical experience in a psychiatric or acute in-patient facility with knowledge of PI functions and high-risk areas and three years of management experience.  Knowledge of hospital operations, problem identification, assessment and evaluation, data collection and analysis, PI measurement tools, root-cause analysis, data reporting, action plan development and follow-up monitoring.  Basic knowledge of state and federal regulations and Joint Commission standards for healthcare facilities.  In addition, a basic knowledge of or experience in development and implementation of plans of correction (POCs).

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in many different situations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
