Job Description

Poplar Springs Hospital, a 183 bed acute care and residential facility, is located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes north of North Carolina. Situated on 25 acres, our serene, nature-like setting offers our patients a sense of calmness and peace. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military.

The Director of Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance is a liaison to department directors and administration to ensure that the provision of quality care is monitored and continuously improved.  Core functions include:

  • Coordination of the facility-wide Performance Improvement Program;

  • Facilitation of the medical staff components of the program in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer;

  • Planning and chairing the PI function and reporting findings and activities to the Medical Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees;

  • Assistance in maintaining ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the facility;

  • Assistance provided to managers and leadership in establishing best practices based on research and data analysis; and

  • Promoting, planning, designing, coordinating and evaluating training and educational activities for all staff.

Job Requirements

Education:                                        

Psychologist, Masters’ Prepared Social Worker or graduate of an accredited nursing program.  MSN preferred.

 

Experience:

Three (3) years clinical experience with a psychiatric mental health population, with prior management and training experience to assure an understanding of systems management, time management,

and staff development. 

 

Licensure/Certification:

If RN, licensure and registration by the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners as a registered nurse, Certification through Healthcare Quality Certification Board preferred.

 

Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge in psychiatric treatment theory and practice.  

Demonstration of skills in problem solving, critical thinking, written and verbal communication, interpersonal relationships and team facilitation. 

Thorough knowledge of data collection, aggregation, statistical analysis, and use of statistical display tools. 

Thorough knowledge of techniques and methods of adult education.

Basic computer and mathematic skills.
