Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers hope and healing for youth ages 7 to 18 at the time of admission with several psychiatric diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities. Located in Portsmouth, VA, Harbor Point provides intensive, residential treatment to youth in a comfortable setting that is conducive to healing. Our facility specializes in treating children and adolescents with depression, bipolar, ADHD, and other mental health issues. We also have specific treatment programs for those with intellectual disabilities or those with self-injurious behavior. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center currently has an opening for a Director of Risk Management/Performance Improvement.

The Director of Risk Management/PI oversees the facility’s risk management program. The position is responsible for providing oversight and coordination of all compliance and performance improvement activities.  The Director of RM/PI also ensures compliance with guidelines and standards of Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ensures appropriate and timely reporting of incidents by maintaining a Healthcare Peer Review Reporting system.Enters incidents into UHS quality database.Oversees reporting of incidents to Corporate, State Licensure, and Human Rights.
  2. Coordinates the development, implementation and reporting of all data obtained throughout the facility on quality assessment and improvement activities.
  3. Organizes and facilitates Quality Council, Patient Safety Council, and Compliance meetings and activities.
  4. Serves as the Compliance Officer for the facility. Develops and utilizes monitoring tools to ensure compliance with guidelines and standards of Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.Coordinates preparation for surveys and writes follow-up reports.
  5. Serves as the Privacy Officer for the facility.  Monitors HIPAA and Privacy initiatives within the facility to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations


Job Requirements

Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of risk identification, performance improvement activities, Joint Commission/Licensure standards and the survey process is required. Must be able to analyze, comprehend, understand and synthesize data for overall activities of the department. Position requires demonstrated leadership, organization, planning, and administrative skills. Experience with the computerized databases, spreadsheets and word processing is required. Good communication skills, oral and written. Ability to adapt and respond to a variety of activities/situations simultaneously. Ability to design learning experiences that contribute to growth and change. Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.

Licensure/Certification: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred. Valid Driver’s License.

Experience: Three years related experience. Additionally, must be knowledgeable of and abide by HIPAA regulations with regard to protected health information as defined by HIPAA. Uses and/or discloses on a daily basis, verbal, written or electronic PHI, including use and/or disclosure in the performance of administrative duties related to the HIPAA privacy regulations as pertains to clients’ financial, demographic, and/or clinical data.
