The PGIM Controllership team currently has an opening for a Director of Accounting Policy supporting PGIMs’ businesses.
The successful candidate chosen for this position will support PGIM Controllers existing Accounting Policy Team.  This role will have significant direct exposure to PGIM’s investment management businesses, with emphasis on PGIM’s Real Estate business.  The role will require significant coordination with business unit controllers, corporate accounting policy and the finance shared services organization.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Apply U.S. GAAP to complex transactions and strategic initiatives to identify and resolve accounting issues for internal stakeholders
  • Lead implementation efforts for new accounting standards
  • Liaise with Corporate Accounting Policy Group to monitor accounting policies and evolving standards
  • Review financial statements and disclosures for appropriateness under U.S. GAAP (10-K, 10-Q and stand-alone reports)
  • Analysis of investments and transactions to address accounting and reporting issues, including consolidation, with VIE/VOE considerations; income recognition; impairment; fair value reporting; asset transfers; loans, including modifications; real estate; derivatives; among others.
  • Interact directly with the PGIM lines of business to help them understand the accounting implications of new transactions, real estate and debt fund structures, mortgage products, and fixed income products.
  • Support the PGIM Finance Team on U.S. GAAP and Statutory policies including support for quarterly reporting and emerging issues, as well as resolution of technical issues as they arise.
  • Maintain PGIM’s internal control standards including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by auditors
  • Assist in implementation of new accounting standards across PGIM under both US GAAP and Statutory Accounting standards  
  • Research accounting issues and prepare documentation to ensure compliance with US GAAP
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key functional areas including PGIM Finance, Accounting Policy, Risk, and Treasurers among others.

A background in the asset management business, including fixed income, real estate and/or hedge funds is highly desirable. The candidate must be able to manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other relevant discipline
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 8 years of accounting/auditing experience in financial services with outstanding technical accounting skills
  • Experience with new GAAP rules regarding consolidation (including VIEs) and revenue recognition
  • At least 5 years of public accounting or technical accounting role experience
  • Experience with either a large, public financial services company in Accounting Policy or a technical accounting role within a large public accounting firm
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to build relationships and trust and exert influence beyond positional authority
  • Demonstrate a strong accounting background and the ability to articulate guidance to others.
  • Substantial US GAAP experience, including new standard assessment capabilities
