The Regulatory and Methodology Support lead within the Annuity Calculation Management team is responsible for defining and documenting calculation methodology for all technical aspects of annuity product initiatives and ongoing management of the current annuity product portfolio.  This includes ensuring actuarial & product integrity of inforce block of business through all lifecycles of the 300 products in force, with a focus on satisfying actuarial regulatory requirements, representing the Calculation Management team on cross-functional project initiatives, and delivering on technical methodology documents to be used to construct test tools and manual administrative tools.  It is expected that this person will be recognized within the organization as a product and calculation expert.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of 2 – 3 actuarial professionals.

• Accountable for creating and signing all required actuarial regulatory documents including memorandum, certifications & exhibits as required by state and other regulatory bodies for new product development & inforce product management.

• Partner with the Market Segment teams to review product design concepts and integrate into the calculation design.

• Represent (or manage team members who represent) the Calculation Management team on cross-functional project teams.   Coordinate with project leadership to define and manage to target dates for key milestones. 

• Oversee and direct the creation of detailed calculation mechanics, assumptions, and methodologies for new product development, changes to existing products, and inforce product escalations.  These methodologies will serve as a blueprint for the Calculation Tool Delivery team to build test tools and manual administrative tools, and will be used as content for Technology business requirements.    Activities associated with methodology creation include:

o Planning and facilitating detailed calculation elicitation sessions.

o Developing high level numerical examples as needed during early phases of product launches, and leverage them for the ultimate methodology documents as appropriate.

o Reconciling across, and signing off on, all complementary sources of requirements including the Calculation Methodology, Technology business requirements, an illustration template as applicable, and vendor specification documents as applicable.

• Partner with cross-functional actuarial representatives and annuities cross-functional business partners (including control functions) to ensure thorough understanding and peer review of calculation in support of all regulations.

• Provide on-going actuarial knowledge and creative problem resolution within Product and to business partners across the organization.

• Bachelor’s Degree

• ASA required

• Experience with Actuarial Regulatory support for contract filings is required (Actuarial Memos, nonforfeiture demonstrations)

• Experience managing people is required

• 5 years of experience in financial services product support or product management, including Annuities Illustrations experience

• Continuous Improvement, AGILE, or process optimization experience

• Demonstrated proven ability to lead, develop, and grow talent

• Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills

• Approach work with intellectual curiosity and transparency with an openness to giving and receiving feedback

• Self‐motivated, proactive and visionary leadership, thinking beyond functional responsibilities to broader business strategy.
