Job Details

+ The mission of the Pfizer Innovation and Research Lab (PfIRe) is to identify, develop and utilize digital continuous remote monitoring of patients' symptoms as novel endpoints for disease diagnosis and health state assessment in support of Pfizer's clinical portfolio.

+ This effort requires a diverse project team composed program managers, biologists, engineers and physician scientists. Such physicians function as a key member of PfIRe lab project teams contributing deep knowledge of medicine, human physiology and importantly, the patient's perspective to each project.

+ In addition, the physician will lead efforts in the startup, ongoing conduct, data analysis, close out, and writing related to clinical, methodology, and experimental medicine studies, and for delivering on innovative clinical study design, medical execution, safety assessment and study interpretation within the context of high quality human studies.

+ Beyond the clinical experience needed for these duties, a PfIRe lab physician must be committed to driving medical innovation in the pursuit of improving clinical research studies.

+ This position requires an engaged thinker with a scientific approach to problem solving, significant hands-on medical experience, an understanding of the challenges of clinical drug trials and an appreciation of novel medically relevant technologies. The successful candidate should view the clinic as a laboratory.

+ A member of a team of medical experts within the PfIRe lab

+ Functions at the project team level as a team leader and/or medical expert based on a familiarity with an industrial research environment as well as a deep medical expertise capable of providing disease, diagnostic, patient and treatment-relevant knowledge across the spectrum of the portfolio.

+ Contributes to the design of human research studies in both healthy volunteers and patients for the characterization and/or validation of novel technologies and medical devices.

+ Partners with academic sites, internal Pfizer teams, and related lines and functions to ensure excellence in development and translation of clinical research plans into efficiently delivered studies.

+ Responsible for safeguarding research subject safety in studies through excellence in design and ongoing safety/medical monitoring during study conduct and follow-up.

+ Contributes to development of a long-range strategy in the experimental medicine space, which covers medical, translational and operational aspects.

+ Accountable for collaborative clinical documents (e.g. protocol, data reports, publications).

+ Motivates and engages colleagues in an understanding of disease and excitement in an indication and mechanism

+ Flexible in supporting a dynamic research portfolio

+ REQUIREMENTS: MD or MD/PhD with 10+ years' experience including postgraduate medical training and board certification in a medical discipline.

+ Demonstrated understanding of the biopharmaceutical environment and the drug development process, with a passion for improving clinical trial design and methodology.

+ Excellent organizational, analytical, strategic, interpersonal, written and oral skills.

+ Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, problem-solving environment

Demonstrated strength in influencing and negotiation skills and ability to communicate effectively at all stages of the discovery pipeline.

Beyond the elements of PfIRe lab project teams, internal interactions will include other members of the medical line as well as other elements of Early Clinical Development. A critical capability all scientific leaders in the PfIRe lab is the ability to interact with and represent Pfizer to the local Boston-Cambridge medical-academic and technical community. This individual will be expected to participate in scientific and medical coalitions and collaboration that result from alliances and programs involving or of interest to the mission of the PfIRe Lab.
