Position Summary

The Director, Cost Analytics is a member of the Global Cost Analytics Team, and will lead multiple Cost Analytics projects across different geographies, and be responsible for the development of vendor negotiation strategies and tactics. She / he will conduct complex analyses and work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to negotiate lower net cost with vendors across WMT’s portfolio of categories and build action plans and tactics to capture identified opportunities. The Director – Global Cost Analytics will partner with the merchants throughout the negotiation process.


Position Description


  • Lead Cost Analytics initiatives across multiple categories for WMT International & WMT eCommerce


  • Identify opportunities to negotiate lower net cost across a wide range of assortment and with complex vendor implications, build vendor negotiation strategies to capture identified opportunity


  • Partner with merchants from WMT International & WMT.com US to enable lower cost negotiation


  • Drive alignment across multiple cross-functional teams to ensure the achievement of business objectives, present business strategies to WMT merchandising leadership to obtain alignment


  • Manage multiple or complex product assortment and delivery channel strategies by analyzing business results, information related to product performance, trends, forecasts, competitors, and industry data and identifying actions to drive incremental vendor value opportunities


  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity and ensure business needs are being met


Minimum Qualifications


  • 8+ years of experience, of which 3+ years of experience in a top tier management consulting firms


  • Graduate degree in Statistics, Math, Economics or MBA in Top schools preferred


  • Experience working on growth strategies, pricing analyses, vendor funding programs design, marketing effectiveness programs, FMCG trade funding management & optimization


  • Strong analytical skills – creative problem solver that can deliver comprehensive, balanced & actionable analysis; ability to run analyses on large data sets and build complex analytical models


  • Strong oral and written communication skills – including the ability to develop and deliver presentations in a professional and direct manner


  • Proven ability to effectively build and manage relationships, interact at all levels within the organization and across multiple functions


  • Excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to persuade, communicate vision and motivate people at every level, cooperative working style


  • Expert in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint


Additional Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, Python


  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing demands for resources and influence cross functional teams to ensure deliverables are met
