Position Description

As a Director on the Sam’s Experience Protection team, you will help set direction and build capabilities to solve for fraud and risk detection. You will apply your skills in machine learning, big data profiling, statistical exception identification, and data visualization. You will help lead capability teams that will call on your experience in managing & mentoring technical talents—this requires a unique talent who can both lead and execute. You have a chance to help shape business direction for one of the largest retailers in the world, working for a $58 billion organization that works with 40 petabytes of data.

Leads the analysis of data to drive Experience Protection strategies by partnering with senior and executive leadership to evaluate existing and upcoming initiatives and campaigns; determining data needs and developing strategic plans for gathering needed data; synthesizing and analyzing data based on strategic question being asked; utilizing expertise to translate data insights into applicable strategic recommendations for the business; developing predictive models to inform new strategic initiatives; establishing metrics to track program or campaign performance; consulting with senior and executive leadership regarding data insights and trends; and presenting recommendations and insights to senior and executive leadership.

Leads research and analytics projects to address business needs by making recommendations regarding Experience Protection programs, initiatives, and communications based on data insights; establishing metrics to track project and campaign performance; determining business objectives, timing, data needs, and deliverables; consulting on establishing metrics to evaluate and measure initiative or program success; identifying and managing necessary resources; ensuring completion of projects and performance expectations; and serving as a subject matter expert to the business on analytics and insights.

Executes strategies, processes, and projects for Experience Protection insights by partnering with cross-functional teams across the business; benchmarking with industry experts through continuing education and use of networks and making recommendations for analytical best practices; supporting the development and implementation of plans and project timelines; communicating with decision-makers within the organization; and providing specialized leadership and insights throughout the life cycle of insights initiatives.

Oversees advanced statistical analytics initiatives for member-centric strategies by developing long-term analytics roadmaps; leading the development and deployment of large-scale analytics portfolios; integrating member-level analytics recommendations to inform decision; identifying issues and analytics methodologies; and informing on policy decisions impacting members.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or related field AND 7 years’ experience in data analytics, or related field OR 9 years’ experience in data analytics or related field.
2 years’ experience leading cross-functional teams.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research ,Mathematics, or related field.
6 years’ experience working with data analytics tools, programming languages, or machine learning (for example, SQL, Alteryx, SAS, Tableau, Python).
2 years’ supervisory experience.
