The site Engineering Leader provides life cycle asset and facilities management leadership for the site by implementing strategies that assure Best in Class performance for compliance and effectiveness. Under the general supervision of the Site Leader, the incumbent is responsible for all activities related to site Engineering and Maintenance Operations and is a member of the site leadership team. The site Engineering Leader will provide technical guidance to the site in all aspects of Engineering. Scope includes all plant infrastructure, maintenance, calibration, automation and utilities programs; as well as all aspects of engineering: civil, mechanical, electrical and HVAC, etc. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for project scoping, capital and expense budgeting, and day-to-day management of site capital projects. The site Engineering Leader is also accountable for Commissioning and Qualification activities of buildings, utilities, equipment and facilities. The site Engineering leader is responsible for driving EHS culture and safety program on site.

This position will work closely with the Global Engineering Services Leader in coordinating efforts to deliver the capital plan, implementing key programs and initiatives, such as the global reliability program and continuous improvement journey.

The incumbent is largely independent, receiving high-level goals from the site leader and overall network guidance from the Global Engineering Services Leader. The execution of work is largely self-driven. The incumbent must have the capability to address issues and develop solutions with limited guidance. The incumbent stays current with Engineering & Maintenance Excellence initiatives to harmonize workflows and rapidly implement programs through replication efforts. The incumbent is responsible and accountable for the functional area's execution of quality work in a professional manner according to standards and regulations.

Manages Engineering and Maintenance resources through effective leadership and by establishing guiding principles to ensure the organization consistently delivers efficient and timely technical solutions and services.

Mentors Engineering & Maintenance staff

Set objectives and supports development plans

Financial Management

Chairs Site Engineering Forum

Sets scope, budget, and schedule for the site operations and for the capital investment program

Ensures project design criteria are based on thorough engineering analysis and evaluation

Initiates Capital funding, Key Project Reviews and Financial Forecasts

Manages projects from initiation through to successful operation.

Leads site coordination activities with OpU Capital Project Leader

Reliability/Process Improvements

Chairs Site Maintenance Forum

Manages the support organization to maintain a reliable site operation and infrastructure, including Utilities, Buildings, and Automated systems

Reviews Maintenance Dashboard and Scorecard trends

Leads site coordination with Maintenance Excellence CoP Leaders


Identify and implement Operational Excellence projects resulting in improved cycle time, reliability, and operating and conversion costs.

Maintains a standard site structure and reviews organizational effectiveness through internal benchmarks.

Actively participates in the site strategic planning activities and provides engineering analysis for manufacturing options.


Promotes safety awareness, adheres to safety standards, participates in the routine safety training events and enforces safety/chemical hygiene requirements.

Ensures employees are fully trained.

Ensures adherence to regulations and to company policies

Budget/Asset Responsibility

Administrating Operating Expense Budget

Budgeting and cash flow forecasting responsibility for annual Capital Program.


BS or MS degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent. In addition, an MBA or advanced degree in Management or similar field is preferred

A thorough understanding of facility operations, maintenance, utilities, manufacturing, engineering, budgeting and quality control principles and related cGMP's.

Substantial experience in the pharmaceuticals or related industry with extensive site experience in major project management, and service management. Leadership position relies on extensive engineering and Biotech or Oral Solid Dosage (pharmaceutical or consumer health) experience as well as judgment to plan and accomplish objectives and goals.

Must be fluent in Swedish and English, speaking and written


Evening and weekend availability key to support critical site issues and decisions, as needed. Occasional travel required.


**Financial Accountability**

Budget and forecast for operating expense budget. Owner of Site Master Plan and Capital plan including budget


4 direct reporting managers and a total organization of 65 colleagues.
