ROLE SUMMARY







The primary function of the **Director of Engineering** is to lead exempt, non-exempt, and hourly personnel in the implementation and tracking of capital projects, equipment maintenance, and process development to ensure a safe and compliant facility for the manufacturing of quality drug products. The Director of Engineering reports to the Vice President of Rocky Mount Operations.







**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**







+ Oversee Engineering & Maintenance ensuring departmental and site goals are met.



+ Identify opportunities for performance improvement, develop alternate solutions to recurring or potential problem areas and establish necessary contingency plans.



+ Provide technical support and expertise for Manufacturing and Validation as required for delivery and product volume, process/validation excursions, process improvements, and product development.



+ Provides technical resources to support the management of the scale-up and transfer of new products.



+ Manages the development and implementation of new technologies to improve manufacturing processes.



+ Oversees the development and initiation of programs for future production equipment and facility upgrades through the development of the LRP. This includes identification and corrective action required to improve existing equipment and processes



+ Oversees the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities for compliance and coherence of operations.







**QUALIFICATIONS**







+ Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.



+ Ten (10) years of engineering and/ or maintenance management experience in the hospital products, chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing or other related industries.



+ Several years in production management with additional experience in materials management, product development or quality assurance is preferred.



+ Proven track record in leading organizational change.



+ Active Involvement in ISPE and PDA.



+ General knowledge of cGMP, safety and environmental regulatory requirements.



+ Excellent communications skills in oral, written, and presentation situations providing clear, informative, and persuasive communication.



+ Requires extensive knowledge of plant facilities, utilities, and manufacturing equipment. Computer application experience is helpful to analyze problems and provide corrective actions when necessary.



+ Assignments in this position require translating general directions into operational terms coordinated with corporate policy and objectives. The incumbent is expected to analyze and interpret information from subordinates or sources outside the site and arrive at the optimal solution with limited guidance.
