In support of Prudential’s US Businesses, within Enabling Solution’s Learning & Development Knowledge Management group, the  Director, Instructional Solutions Development, will be committed to developing the strategic and tactical direction that will serve to execute focused innovative solutions.


This leader will be responsible for the learning strategies related to instructional curriculum design and development, implementation and sustainability. This role reports into the Vice President, Learning & Development Knowledge Management, and will lead a team of (2) managers, 15 instructional designers and learning technologists located in various sites in the U.S. These teams are focused on developing and executing learning approaches that influence engagement, on the job performance, and a continuous learning environment.

Through the curriculum and course design and development, the team of professionals will ensure measurable solutions are implemented. Additionally, it will be important for this leader to care for their teams need to adapt to business environment change, be fully engaged with their dispersed virtual team structure and drives consistent talent development and engagement while modeling what it takes to be successful amidst a complex and matrix organization.


This leader will partner with 3 other functional leaders. The Director, Consulting & Facilitation oversees the analysis of business client training needs and ensures the delivery of new hire training and courseware are high quality. The Manager of Knowledge Management Solutions oversees knowledge management technologies and technical processes. The Manager of Demand and Governance ensures that all administration and reporting needs are accurate and timely.


Additional Responsibilities:


• Develop a technology strategy and multi year plan for technical systems, upgrades, and innovations

• Manage the budget for all technologies for the organization - PCs, portals, software, hardware, licensing, etc

• Mentor instructional developers and technologists on consultative behaviors, system thinking, and develop cross training plans to expand the total skill base for the technology team

• Consult with L&D leaders on the current and emerging technologies, to source for new technologies

• Serve as internal expert on learning technology tools and techniques

• Demonstrate the ability to influence without authority to secure buy-in and alignment for learning activities; build strong strategic relationships within the organization to promote the learning strategy

• Measure/analyze performance of all learning programs and approaches and take action based on analysis and communicate results and action plans

  • Master’s Degree and/ or 10 years equivalent experience in a learning and development leadership role overseeing the designing and developing of learning solutions which include web portals, distance meeting technologies, CBT, LCMS/LMS administration, virtual classroom technologies, WIKI’s, Blogs, multi-media (video/audio), simulations, gamification, micro learning and programming
  • Financial services industry knowledge and experience preferred
  • Experience with technology vendor management and staff augmentation of eLearning development
  • Proven leadership in managing, inspiring and mentoring virtual teams
  • Successful in taking intelligent risks and driving collaboration, innovation and strategic thinking that produces business value and outcomes
  • Deep understanding of core and emerging Learning & Development technologies and best practices
  • Strong presentation and verbal communication skills that can influence and negotiate solutions
  • CPLP preferred
  • Travel May be required (25%)
  • Work Location - Flexible (can be 100% remote) or Telecommuting to a Prudential location – Dresher PA, Plymouth MN, Jacksonville FL, Newark NJ, Portland ME, Scottsdale AZ, Hartford CT, Dubuque IA
