Position Title: Director, Leadership Development - Prudential Advisors

The Director, Leadership Development has two key areas of responsibility. The primary one is the recruiting, selection, training and ongoing development of the 13 Managers, Training and Development in the Eastern Territory. This position requires extensive travel (approximately 80-90%) visiting the 13 firms for this territory. The secondary, but as important, responsibility is the oversight of the delivery of producer and management curriculum for the Eastern territory firms.

This Director reports directly to the Vice President, Learning and Field Implementation, Recruiting and Professional Development, with a dotted line to the Territorial Vice President for this territory.  


Responsibilities include:

  • Manages 10 Manager, Training and Development associates.
  • Identifies gaps in field management skills and knowledge.
  • Communicates gaps and recommended solutions.
  • Participates as a member of the territory's team, understanding the territory's strategic goals and providing guidance about how training can optimally support the achievement of these goals.
  • Synthesizes information from a variety of sources in order to maintain an overall picture of the learning efforts in the territory's firms; recommends and facilitates solutions when problems are identified.
  • Communicates key issues to VP, Field Implementation and TVP to identify additional learning modules needed for producer and management development.
  • Ensures utilization of all training methods, including distance learning, based upon learner's needs, training topic, and geographic imperatives.
  • Ensures that training plans are created and implemented in each Agency that provide for the development of new Financial Professional Associates' skills and knowledge, including those FPAs in detached locations.
  • Ensures that all field managers (Manager, Training and Development; Manager, Financial Services; Managing Directors; Operations & Controls Manager) understand how training efforts support the achievement of firm goals.
  • Partners with all Home Office divisions for execution of programs.

  • Experience managing large groups of people (>10 people) at a distance.
  • 5 years’ experience managing large remote field teams
  • Experience managing trainers in the field
  • Strong leadership skills

  • Analytical skills (identification of gaps in skills/knowledge, training needs analyses)
  • Strong relationship building, partnering, interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving (recommending solutions for skill improvement)
