Global Strategic Research is a strategic advisor to Prudential businesses, delivering actionable insights to inform and shape business decisions that help them achieve their key performance goals. In this role, the Director of Research Operations is responsible for the strategic oversight and day-to-day workings of the Research Project Management Office, and the successful implementation of research projects designed to address key business needs across Prudential stakeholders.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Source best in class external capabilities:  lead team to identify, develop and deploy “best in class” research practices by leveraging state of the art methodologies and techniques, including the incorporation of non-traditional research methods, design thinking and agile testing. 
  • Build strategic supplier relationships:  architects preferred vendor relationships to support best practices and continually drives vendor management strategies that enable optimal partnerships and “value add.”  This includes setting up a smart, repeatable process for learning about, onboarding, engaging and evaluating each supplier/ research partner.

  • Set and enforce standard operating procedures:  lead process improvement initiatives to increase effectiveness and efficiency, work with the leadership team to set up standard operating procedures for the group, while partner with other corporate functions (i.e. vendor governance, compliance, privacy) to ensure all projects and processes comply with all enterprise level requirements.

  • Provide operational leadership:  Lead a team of 4 research project managers and partner with team to ensure a clear understanding of client goals, project plans and schedules are created by collaborating closely with functional leaders, project milestones are defined and tracked.  Provide ongoing coaching to continuously develop team and raise functional excellence.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 12 years direct experience in marketing research techniques/ methodologies including strategic and tactical quantitative, qualitative and syndicated data. 
  • Expertise in all areas of the research process and design principles for both U.S. and global studies.  
  • 5 years leading a team ((hiring, mentoring, career development, performance management, etc)
  • An accomplished research leader with significant expertise in traditional methodologies who is also open minded and keeps a pulse on non-traditional and/or developing methods.
  • Experience with Customer Experience Feedback Management systems (i.e. Medallia, Confirmit, Maritz) and text analytic tools (i.e. Clarabridge, Verint) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong relationships across functions and facilitate collaborative problem solving.
  • Demonstrated success in creating structure, standardizing procedures and improving processes.
  • Outstanding influence skills and demonstrated ability to inspire collaboration across teams and build partnerships with external suppliers. 
  • Demonstrated success in creating structure, standardizing procedures and process improvement.
  • A “player-coach” who is comfortable stepping back to empower others but can roll up his/her sleeves and work alongside the team.
