**ROLE SUMMARY:**



The North American Operational Lead will report to the VP, North American Oncology Medical Lead. The incumbent will be responsible to lead the development of Operations Function to support the North American (NA) Medical Oncology group, ensuring alignment and inclusion of all Medical Affairs priorities, to efficiently support the scientific objectives of Oncology.







Ensure NA Medical Operations is in alignment with other key functional areas, including global medical, clinical development, commercial, managed care and government affairs. Coordinate an annual Operating Plan to appropriately position Pfizer Oncology products within the NA Region and ensure Medical Affairs resources are well positioned to meet strategic objectives both internally and externally.







Lead the development and management of platforms necessary to execute operational plans, manage a financial plan for the NA medical group, develop and track group performance metrics, develop dashboards and reports, and ensure repeatable quality processes. Additionally, ensure a consistent medical approach to research initiatives, including Pfizer sponsored studies, collaborative research programs and investigator initiated research.







**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:**







+ Lead the development, alignment and communication of medical affairs operational excellence within NA Oncology which are aligned with medical operation plans globally and across other regions.



+ Represent NA as a key leader on the Operations Regional Network, working with the Oncology Medical, Head of Operations to ensure consistent and coordinated approaches to managing medical processes across all regions.



+ Oversight of NA Oncology medical annual operating plan process



+ Drive the creation of processes, working with key internal stakeholders, to support the strategy and execution of NA Medical Affairs trials in alignment with the overall Global Medical Strategy



+ Drive the development and implementation of a standard NA IIR process, driving efficiency in contracting and budget timelines with cross-functional partners



+ Drive process improvement initiatives related to various NA Med Affairs activities such as ad boards, medical congresses, and other processes to be determined.



+ Lead the creation and implementation of cross-functional matrix meetings to create a unified NA Medical Affairs strategy for Oncology compounds that aligns with the overall Global Medical Strategy



+ Develop and ensure implementation of MA functional operating rhythm, key team meetings and onboarding and colleague training plans in collaboration with the NA Medical Leadership Team



+ Responsible for ensuring timely contracting and meeting all financial spend targets



+ Lead and manage NA Medical budget utilization, spend tracking and project prioritization



+ Develop and lead a quality plan for NA Medical to ensure processes are clearly defined



+ Develop and lead performance measurements (metrics) as appropriate



+ Develop and lead dashboard/reporting capabilities



+ Responsible for compliance oversight across NA medical processes and activities including a review and escalation process for effective remediation of issues/risks with corporate compliance functions



+ Authors, co-authors and trains medical affairs organization on relevant SOPs, business processes, etc.



+ Responsible for building and leading appropriate organizational project management and operations capabilities



+ Responsible for building NA medical competencies and organizational capabilities related to business market knowledge



+ Work and align with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Field Medical Content & Education lead) to ensure consistencies where appropriate and avoid duplication



+ Manage and develop a team of operational direct reports. Provide leadership, development and career planning support for the team



+ Partner with global and regional operational leads to ensure appropriate efficiencies







**QUALIFICATIONS:**







+ Graduate level degree



+ 10+ years of relevant experience required, with at least 5 years of experience managing managers of others



+ Minimum of 5+years of experience in Medical Affairs Operations functions in complex organizations



+ Experience within Oncology strongly preferred



+ Demonstrated ability to create and implement innovative solutions that will serve future healthcare needs



+ Strong communications and relationship building capacity



+ Strong strategic mindset, understanding of market needs and resource allocation



+ Strong knowledge of medical affairs activities such as Medical strategy and management, medical education, medical operations, trial operations, clinical C.I., medical congresses, investigator-initiated studies and professional society relationship management







**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**







+ Travel 10-15%, may include international travel
