Suncoast Behavioral Health Center is a private, acute inpatient psychiatric facility designed to provide quality services in a supportive, healing environment to children, adolescents, adults and mature adults.  Our modern facility was renovated in 2014 and features 60 inpatient beds and a Partial Hospitalization Program for adults.

The Director of Business Development (DBD) oversees the marketing, referral development, public relations and customer satisfaction efforts for the hospital.  The DBD manages and directs a team of Business Development Representatives who build strong customer relationships while assuring the hospital meets established goals.  The DBD works with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to troubleshoot and improve internal and external processes to benefit referral sources and patients, as well as overall strategic planning.  The DBD acts as a liaison between the hospital, customers, and community stakeholders, as well as plan events, serves on community boards, and seeks out new business development opportunities for the hospital.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the mission, culture and programs of Suncoast Behavioral Health Center to current and prospective referral sources and the community.

  • Supervise a team of Business Development Representatives to ensure sales/marketing efforts and results meet hospital goals.

  • Develop a strategic plan for creating demand for the facilities’ services.

  • Create processes and strategies to constantly improve the customer’s experience with Suncoast Behavioral Health Center.

  • Create and manage a departmental budget.

  • Manage/negotiate contracts with insurance and managed care companies.

  • Network and participate in community events and committees.

  • Create marketing promotional materials and online/social media content.

  • Perform personnel management duties including recruiting and retention, providing department orientation and training and completing performance evaluations.

  • Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and adding value to the strategic direction of the Hospital as a clinical expert.

  • Establishes departmental goals, standards and procedures that align with the Hospital and company strategic direction.

  • Maintain working relationships with physicians, allied health professionals, patient families and referral sources.

Job Requirements

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral health area, marketing, business administration or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in health care marketing and community relations management position with extensive marketing and community relations experience resulting in measurable results, and with direct experience developing managed care agreements. In addition, detailed knowledge of psychiatric treatment principles. Must have supervision experience.

License: Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Skills: Advanced knowledge of key marketing and community relations concepts and methodology and strategic planning.  Advance knowledge of new and continuing marketing and community relations account management. Ability to analyze market tendencies and project marketing and community relational changing needs.  Knowledge of leadership and management theories.  Knowledge of Personnel Management principles and concepts. Skilled in development and training workshops. Knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles and practices. Knowledge of key internal/external health care facility environments. Ability to generate, interpret, and communicate date from statistical reports.  Knowledge of annual report preparation and budgeting concepts. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to meet corporate deadlines. Ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements: Irregular and long hours may be required occasionally.  Exposure to patients and program conditions.  Extensive travel.  Bending, lifting 30lb boxes containing brochures and 50lb display boards, etc.
