Schick Shadel Hospital, a 60-bed alcohol and chemical dependency hospital located in the outskirts of Seattle, has been providing successful chemical dependency treatment since 1935. The hospital, which claims the "#1 Success Rate in Treating Alcoholism" bases its success on its unique and powerful counter conditioning treatment program. The hospital provides medication detoxification and an intense, short stay addiction treatment program for alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription opioids and heroin (smoked/snorted). Schick Shadel Hospital is currently has a Director of Business Development position available.

The Director of Business Development, is responsible for directing the development and continuous refinement of the facility's business development plan.  In consultation with the CEO and other senior management staff, this position designs, develops, implements and directs the business development strategic goals, philosophy, policies, procedures and systems for the effectively marketing Schick Shadel Hospital and developing new referral sources.

Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health area, marketing, business administration or related field; Master's Degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Experience:  A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a health care business development management position with extensive business development experience and media purchasing experience resulting in measurable results.  Direct experience developing managed care agreements and contracts.  In addition, detailed knowledge of chemical dependency treatment principles or behavioral health experience.
License:  Must have a valid driver's license.


Business Development Planning:
1)   Direct the development and continual refinement of the facility's comprehensive business development plan.
2)   Consult with CEO and senior management to oversee, develop and implement the facility's business development strategies.
3)   Develop and implement monthly, seasonal and annual strategies, and evaluate results.
4)   Maintain a schedule of primary accounts including business, industry, EAPs, management care clients, physician's/licensed 
      practitioners, and allied health professionals.
5)   Continually evaluate the effectiveness of the business development performance against market constraints and changes and
      revise the business development plan as appropriate.
6)   Consult with all levels of internal/external facility staff on the establishment of functional and product development.
7)   Maintain business development referral admission statistics, including preparation of business development reports and materials.
8)   Target and create new strategies for increasing business in the highly competitive healthcare market.
9)   Maintain and develop key business development accounts and respond to all business development opportunities.
10) Prepare budgeting and annual reports for the facility.
11) Develop community outreach workshops and seminars either held at the facility or in the community.
12) Direct and coordinate all media relations functions.

1)   Development marketing strategies which effectively integrate various marketing media (radio, TV, print and internet).
2)   Manage advertising buys and campaigns to effectively use company resources to best advantage.
3)   Provide monthly analysis of the effectiveness of various media campaigns.
4)   Work with advertisers and consultants to develop effective marketing messages to various target audiences.
5)   Work to improve SEO placement of hospital website.
6)   Manage hospital's PPC campaign.

Business Development/Marketing Administration:
1)   Coordinate all facility functional areas to develop a business development focus and develop strategic plans.
2)   Evaluate and prioritize referral sources.
3)   Train Business Development Representatives on effective business development techniques.
4)   Define and evaluate both internal and external customers.
5)   Coordinate weekly motivational business development meetings to stimulate and encourage the business 
      development team to reach facility's goals.
6)   Provide direction, guidance, training and support to the business development team, identify team strengths and 
      weaknesses and implement measures to improve performance.

8)   Maintain the business development budget and recommend cost saving measures to the financial department.
9)   Keep CEO up-to-date on all matters affecting the functioning of the Business Development Department.
