Garland Behavioral Hospital (GBH) is a 72-bed facility located inside Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Garland. We provide a broad range of services for Adult Psychiatric conditions. Due to our expansion of the NEW Geriatrics and Adult Unit , we have an opportunity for an experienced Business Office Director to join our team in developing quality services that serve Garland and he surrounding communities. The Business Office Director is responsible for ensuring the efficient operations of the Business Office to include an accurate, timely and consistent performance of all functions pertaining to patient accounting (including patient account maintenance, billing and collection management), admissions processing and accounts receivable.

Key duties of the successful Business Office Director include :

  • Ability to support the delivery of quality services and the financial goals and objectives of the organization through effective day-to-day operations
  •  Manage the business office operations to achieve established productivity standards
  • Management of financial data, accounts receivables and collections.
  • Coordinates Business Office functions
  • Supervises Business Office representatives/ trains and develop team
  • Maintain monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Providing reports on an as needed basis
  • Function as a relief for all Business Office positions as needed
  • Ensures timely billing and collections on patients’ accounts.
  • Works well with all departments and physicians in compliance with policies and procedures

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a multi-faceted business office preferably in a health-care setting, with one (1) year supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited school in related field and/ or equivalent related experience Certification through HFMA or AEPAM (CMPA or CPAM); or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with computers and business software programs, particularly Excel.
  • Medical terminology
  • Knowledge of accounting principle, insurance billing, and collections procedures
  • Efficient and effective communication skills
  • Management experience highly preferred
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
