Position Summary:

Parkwood Behavioral Health System has provided behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region since 1987. We are located in DeSoto County, in the uppermost northwest corner of Mississippi and approximately 7 miles south of Memphis.

As treatment options and patient care innovations have continued to become available we strive to provide the highest level of quality care to our patients. At Parkwood, our caring staff focuses on providing compassionate care to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities.

We offer a full continuum of care that provides treatment options to meet the individual needs of adults, adolescents and children. Parkwood Behavioral Health System includes a 148-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.


Director of Education

Parkwood Behavioral Health System is currently seeking a Director of Education to plan and manage the activities of the education department in compliance with hospital, state, federal and other accrediting and regulating agency requirements. The Director of Education utilizes the curriculum as required by the state and county education offices. The Director of Education functions in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Parkwood Behavioral Health System. The Director of Education will also participate in teaching the student-residents.

Requirements

Experience: Five years experience in Administration preferred

Knowledge: Knowledge of educational principles and methodology as applied to students with emotional and learning problems. Assessment, planning, organizational, evaluative and interpretive skills. Knowledge on Individualized Educational Plans and MS Educable Child Programs preferred

Supervision Received: Director of Clinical Services

Supervision Exercised: School Teachers

Education: Master’s Degree in Education

Licensure/Certification: Mississippi Administrators License Required; SPED preferred
