The Director of North Florida Stars, will report to the Florida Stars Strategy Lead, M&R Florida Stars
We have made a promise to the seniors we serve that we will support more effective care with networks focused on quality outcomes, a patient-centered clinical model and more members in high-quality rated plans all delivered at the lowest medical costs and meeting and exceeding the expectations of CMS. The Director of NCFL Stars is accountable for leading and coordinating all local & national initiatives in relation to 5 H-Contracts in the service area and ensuring all stakeholders are coordinating to drive high quality performance. Position provides program direction and goals, performance and financial management, drives execution, removes barriers to meet goals and provides feedback from the business.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead development and execution of market level strategies that will achieve 4-STAR contract rating in each responsible area
  • Actively coordinate with all Medicare & Retirement national functions (Product, Sales, Marketing, Member Experience, Finance), UnitedHealthcare shared services functions (HEDIS Ops, Network, Clinical, Quality, Operations), Optum (Local Care Delivery, HouseCalls, Complex Population Management), lines of business (M&R, DSNP, ISNP, Group, ACO, Optum WellMed) and local leadership (Local EDs, CEOs) to leverage local market knowledge and establish and drive local tactical plans for improving CMS Star ratings and quality for 5 H-Contracts
  • Coordinate with Network and Optum teams to provide Practice Performance Managers and embedded Practice Resources strategic direction; approve performance targets / metrics; ensure performance to targets. Includes positive physician HEDIS run-rate performance; development and use of appropriate supporting tools (HouseCalls, CAHPS/HOS tools, documentation training)
  • Track, analyze and report on overall contract STARS ratings prediction, identifying specific measure categories with negative trends. Present findings to market leadership with recommendations for improvement
  • Provide accurate, timely, actionable intelligence to support effective development and implementation of all STARS efforts
  • Partner with local health plan team, Network, Market Medical Director and Optum to increase HouseCalls completion rates and reduce refusal rates
  • Research and support resolution of operational, member and provider issues and service failures
  • Ensure organizational alignment to achieve market goals
  • Meet all assigned performance targets
  • Maintain strong relationships with Medicare & Retirement national functions, UnitedHealthcare shared services functions and Optum businesses through regular communications and face to face contacts

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a large, complex and successful health care / managed care organization with demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and accountability
  • Experience in a Medicare Advantage business is a must
  • In-depth experience with health care providers / networks, CMS Star ratings, HEDIS measures and clinical quality
  • Project leadership experience
  • Demonstrated strong financial / analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including well-developed interpersonal skills used to influence the behavior of others across a highly-matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated success building relationships with external executives and stakeholders
  • Track record of meeting business goals via driving disciplined, fact-based decisions and executing with discipline and urgency
  • Organizational skills a must
  • Intermediate or higher skills with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and presenting executive level presentations and communications by synthesize complex data sets
  • Location:  Tampa, FL or Orlando, FL area
  • Up to 25% travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or higher level degree, preferably in in business, marketing, economics, health or public policy
