Job Description

Coordinates with the Medical Director to ensure that the quality of medical services is of the highest caliber. Develops, reviews and revises nursing care policies and procedures with the context of the school’s philosophy and goals. Establishes and assures the implementation of effective nursing staffing patterns. Directs medical department in establishing and meeting nursing care priorities in patient services and activities. Performs, instructs and/or supervises all aspects of medication therapy. Ensures that appropriate medications are ordered as prescribed by physician. Ensures the prescription and non-prescription medications are properly stored, packaged, periodically inspected and documented. Supervises overall health care of patients to ensure quality medical care. Attends monthly Department managers meetings, Infection Control Meeting, Safety Committee, Staff Meetings, and any other meetings requiring nursing input. Possesses ability to clinically evaluate normal versus abnormal behaviors for children and adolescents. Understands the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of children and adolescents. Demonstrates ability to intervene and communicate appropriately with children and adolescents.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred. Completes expected volume of work during the time allotted. Completes work in minimum time required after assignment. Demonstrates a cooperative, helpful attitude toward  staff, visitors, and parents. Complies with all policies and procedures. Keeps the confidences of others.  Observes school confidentiality rules. Observes all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Dress, grooming and personal hygiene are consistent with the nature of work and comply with department dress requirements. Maintains professional image as a school representative. No formal counseling/corrective action documentation in HR file. Completed the goals and objectives established in previous review.
