Michael’s House Treatment Center is a refuge of healing and recovery nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Springs, California. FRN is currently seeking a Director of Operations, responsible for overseeing or collaborating with aspects of the business, fiscal and facilities management of Michael’s House.  This is a Senior Leadership level position.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to inspire our clients’ confidence in both our staff and the FRN Model of Treatment. Patient-centered care is not only what we do; it is at the core of who we are.

Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing and implementing workforce strategies to support key business plans with the facility CEO and HR.
  • Collaborates with other leaders from administration and medical providers in developing and implementing organizational changes related to revenue generation, documentation, medical records and other related business functions.
  • Direct reports or oversight may include, and not limited to, quality, compliance and risk management, medical records, utilization review, and Outpatient Services.
  • Assists the CEO in monitoring the budget, variance reporting, and making recommendations for action plans to meet the target goals.
  • Responsible for accounting for all monthly revenue and accounts receivable/payable.
  • Negotiates and maintains all vendor contracts; CAM, CLGA, Service agreements.
  • Ensures all building licenses, periodic safety inspections, business licenses, general liability insurance, vendor agreements and related items are kept current.
  • Responsible for ensuring cash control systems, vehicle and building safety policies and procedures, and for implementing practices that adhere to these policies and procedures.
  • Assists the CEO in preparing for CARF and State audits.
  • Participates in the monthly Safety Committee and ensures appropriate policies and practices regarding disaster planning, evacuations of patients and staff, emergency preparedness, etc.
  • Performs any reasonable operational activities as requested or required by the facility CEO.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have familiarity with state/local requirement for licensures, HIPPA regulations and CARF accreditation procedures.
  • Must have proficiency in compliance, quality, and risk management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must have strong presentation skills.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills.Position continually requires demonstrated poise, professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to pay continual attention to detail.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage people which includes planning, decision making and facilitating process improvements; takes responsibility for subordinates’ activities; makes self available to staff and provides regular performance feedback.
  • Exercise good judgment and successfully handle ambiguity.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with all internal/external interface points.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing Excel spreadsheets, managing and preparing budgets, familiarity with insurance billing and revenue generation in a treatment setting, etc.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive operations and management experience required.Multi-facility and/or multi-department experience is highly preferred.
  • Behavioral Healthcare experience strongly preferred.


Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to travel to multiple, local locations
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequent bending and kneeling.
  • Constant use of computer requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Ability to read, write and analyze detailed and complex information.
  • Minimal overnight travel required.
  • Due to the 24/7 operational demands, must be available after normal working hours and on holidays to manage emergencies that may arise.
