Director of Plant Operations and Safety

The supervision and performance of physical plant operating procedures to ensure a safe, comfortable, and positive health care environment and all other duties as assigned. Duties include supervision of staff as well as providing hands on support to staff.

 

Essential Job Duties:

  • The ability to ensure the maintenance of a safe, comfortable, positive environment for patients, staff, and visitors
  • One year supervisory experience in an institutional facility setting
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and preventive maintenance
  • Stock and inventory experience
  • Knowledge of all pertaining regulatory codes, standards, and regulations
  • The ability to serve as safety office

 

Job Requirements
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management or closely related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working as a Director or Manager of a facility Plant Operations or similar functions
  • Previous hospital experience strongly preferred.  Knowledge of State, Federal, JCAHO, OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Supervisory experience in institutional maintenance and environmental services
  • Elementary reading, writing, and math skills; basic English usage
  • neatness; adherence to instructions and deadlines
  • knowledge of and skills in applying basic plant operations procedures and methods
  • institutional experience desired
  • Serve as a roll model for other employees in exemplary job performance, attendance, and punctuality
  • Vast knowledge of regulatory agency standards. Ability to complete the JCAHO Statement of Conditions.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, moving about in work area and throughout organization to accomplishment tasks.
  • Must be able to finger, grasp, and feel objects. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken English conveying information to others in an audible, accurate and on occasion, quick manner.
  • Able to perceive the nature of sounds with no less than 40db loss@ Hz, 1000Hz with or without correction; perceive detailed information through oral  communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.
  • Work is considered medium in nature requiring occasional  exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry,  pull, push, or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to operate environmental cleaning equipment of all types.
  • Worker  is subject to indoor and outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, natural gas, electrical current, high heat, extreme cold, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, mist, blood, and medical waste.
