Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is a freestanding, 122 bed facility specializing in adolescents, military programming, women's services and general adult psych.  The hospital is located in southwest Houston serving the Houston and surrounding communities. BHB is conveniently located between the Galleria and Meyerland shopping districts as well as only minutes away from the Houston Medical Center, Downtown and Midtown.
 

Position Summary:

Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is seeking a Director of Quality and Performance Improvement to oversee and direct the hospital’s quality improvement, compliance, clinical outcomes management, and client satisfaction/complaints or grievances processes.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Quality and Performance Improvement will be a member of the Executive Team and will work collaboratively with other hospital leaders to assess quality management practices. The ideal candidate will be an experienced change agent with proven abilities to assess and improve upon quality measures (including HBIP indicators, outcomes scores, patient satisfaction surveys and follow-up measures) and performance improvement initiatives. 

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Ensure hospital’s compliance at all times with all Joint Commission, CMS, TDSHS and other regulatory agency’s standards and requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing survey readiness and the utilization of quality metrics for improvement
  • Educate all levels of hospital and medical staff in continuous performance improvement and patient safety concepts, processes and tools.
  • Examine systematic processes that underscore adverse or high-risk events and implement sustainable corrective actions; including process redesign.
  • Implement data collection methodologies, databases, action plans and reporting strategies. Identifies patterns and trends in data.
  • Facilitate performance improvement teams to achieve optimal improvement.
  • Serve as the hospital’s Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, and is a member of the Quality Management team and Credentialing Committee.
  • Provide project management for selected planning and operational implementation of quality initiatives, developing project work plans, identifying any risks,  analyzing financial impact, and communicating progress.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, or related health field required; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in quality and medical staff services/improving organizational performance within an acute medical or psychiatric treatment setting.

Additional Requirements:  A strong knowledge of JOINT COMMISSION, TDSHS, CMS standards, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
