Hickory Trail Hospital, a 86-bed behavioral health facility located just south of Dallas, has been providing quality health care to the residents of DFW since 1988. Hickory Trail Hospital provides inpatient and day treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults. Our professional staff individualizes care to uniquely fit the intensity and severity of each client's case and their family's needs. Because crisis occurs at all times of the day and night, our services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Director of Risk/Performance Improvement is responsible for administering and managing the facility’s risk and quality improvement programs, as well as, all aspects of accreditation and regulation on the local, state and federal levels. Develops; implements and manages activities of the facility’s comprehensive Risk Management & Performance Improvement Programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: risk identification and evaluation, claims management and quality control identification and evaluation. General supervision is provided by the Chief Executive Officer; responsible for supervision of any support staff. The individual has a broad responsibility to protect the hospital’s assets from loss and comply with legal/regulatory standards. The individual is responsible for coordinating the loss control efforts and advising management and administration on all potential sources of loss and in making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure and mitigate potential liabilities. The structure and functions of the Risk Legal/Regulatory Management Program are designed so as to comply with guidelines and standards of the Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory agencies. Monitors, evaluates, plans and implements the facility-wide safety and compliance program. The individual will monitor and facilitate the direction of quality management and quality improvement programs for the facility. Conducts quality improvement meetings on a regular basis to develop and continuously encourage a facility wide team effort in meeting quality improvement efforts. Oversees activities of the Patient Advocate Program, ensuring the highest level of service is provided and that all patient concerns are promptly addressed/resolved.

Job Requirements


Education:        Master’s Level Degree from accredited college or university in Business, Hospital Administration or related field.  Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:       Three-five years experience in Director/Manager Level Risk Management/Performance/Quality Control position in psychiatric/mental health hospital setting preferred.  Solid knowledge of all local, state and federal regulatory compliance agencies and related standards.

Licensure:         Not required; RN, LMSW, LCSW is preferred.

Additional:        Ability to compile, evaluate, analyze and present sophisticated statistical reports.              


Develops and implements the organization’s risk and quality improvement plans in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.
