Description

Help write the history of UnitedHealth Group as a part of UnitedHealthcare Community & State’s Policy and Strategy Team while healing the health care system and improving the lives of others. Bring along your passion and do your life's best work.(sm)  This role offers an exciting opportunity in the dynamic health care policy environment to influence Medicaid reform and other public assistance programs that support low-income and complex populations. UnitedHealthcare is seeking a highly motivated, strategic thinker that is well versed in Medicaid and public medical assistance policy to support UnitedHealthcare Community & State’s business interests.

 

The Director of Policy will develop and lead the implementation of strategy, relationship development, public policy engagement and overall business advancement initiatives with key internal stakeholders and external influencing organizations related to public medical assistance programs for low-income and complex populations (e.g. Medicaid, individuals dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid). This individual will be the primary liaison for the northeast region (NY, NJ, VA, DE, RI, MA, MD, and PA) Medicaid health plan leaders and responsible for the development of policy strategy to support Medicaid program sustainability, reform and health plan operations. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Interface with  state market CEO and leadership team in the north east region – includes but not limited to NY, NJ, VA, MA, MD, DE, MA and PA -  and establish yourself as the Medicaid policy subject matter expert to support the health plan and state customer relationship.

·         Identify emerging Medicaid and public medical assistance policy issues to foresee market changes, business opportunities and mitigate potential business risks.

·         Serve as liaison between the external groups such as state trade associations, policy think tanks, key associations, and others as identified.

·         Support opportunities for interface with policy decision-makers and for on-going dialogue regarding health care modernization and reform through content development such as policy briefs, whitepapers, and talking points on reform strategies.

·         Develop policy strategy for north east region states focused on Medicaid transformation and identification of key priorities based on state interests and goals and market needs.

·         Create appropriate advocacy support for business, growth priorities, and emerging areas of Medicaid and/or socioeconomic policy influencing for health plans, executive leaders and/or business development.

·         Represent policy advocacy initiatives externally with key policy makers and stakeholders.

·         Participate in development of emerging trends advocacy tools, RFP response, policy papers, etc.
