The Corporate Supply Chain Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Director- Process Improvement.

Optimizes the efficiency of the supply chain through process improvement programs for all divisions of the organization. Enhances quality, service delivery, and cost performance. Identifies, implements, and maintains process improvement to support strategic initiatives.  Leads system-wide initiatives for service enhancement and process improvement. Functions as a Subject Matter Expert in Lean Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, Change Leadership and Project Management. Represents Performance and Process Improvement to UHS leadership at varying levels depending on scope of the project.  Manages sustainment efforts for projects across the spectrum of the network. Directs, mentors and coaches Supply Chain Performance and Process Improvement team members in Lean Six Sigma, Change Management and Project management.  Drives the implementation of system-wide best practices. Responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing the process improvement function for supply chain.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develops and leads system wide initiatives that drive measurable improvement in supply chain operations performance metrics; ensures alignment between system and divisional supply chain management initiatives.
  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert Lean Lean Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, Change Leadership and Project Management.
  • Functions as a resource for Performance & Process Improvement, across all business units in UHS.
  • Educates both PPI staff and Acute Care hospital staff in supply chain process improvement methodologies. 
  • Documents savings, provides financial information, and reviews submitted protocols for additional opportunities.
  • Develops Best Demonstrated Practice strategies.  
  • Recognizes existing facility Best Demonstrated Practices, educates hospital areas in implementation of identified best practices, and tracks savings identified through implementation of best practices. 
  • Leads Distribution Oversight and Supports field in program enhancement, vendor management and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Manages vendor relationship to enhance end to end process improvement.
  • Leads inventory management program including: annual inventory, inventory LEAN management, inventory systems, and establishes standardized inventory management process and programs across the system.  
Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Service oriented, strategic leader with demonstrated quantitative, technical and financial expertise.
  • Requires strong leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to build strong working relationships and mentor direct reports
  • Over five years of experience in the field of acute care operations including surgical services,
  • supply chain, logistics and Pharmacy operations preferred.
  • Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma required and a Master Black Belt preferred.


Travel Requirements: 50-70% domestic travel.
