Company Cox Enterprises
Title: Director, Retirement Investments
JobID: 1716901
Category: Accounting and Finance
Industry: Cox Enterprises
Job Type: Full-time

Description

Cox Enterprises, a leading communications, media and automotive services company, is seeking a Director of Retirement Investments who has experience with the following:

  • Investing assets of a large corporate ERISA defined benefit pension plan ($6B+)
  • Having investment oversight of a large defined contribution 401(k) plan ($4B+)
  • Managing the Treasurer functions of a 501(c)(3) employee relief fund

In this role, you will work with the Retirement Investments team to produce investment recommendations consistent with the goals and objectives of the pension fund.   You will contribute to decisions about the overall asset allocation of the pension plan assets. You will be expected to take ownership of evaluating both public and private markets investment opportunities, based on sound investment principles and judgement, to determine which investments should be recommended to the governing investment management committee.   Any resulting recommendations must be made persuasively either in writing or in person.  You will also be expected to effectively negotiate compensation structures with the fund’s investment managers and monitor all aspects of their performance, making appropriate assessments over time regarding their retention versus their account termination.

You will thrive in this role if you are a passionate, enthusiastic investor who is knowledgeable about capital markets and understands the historical context of various investment periods.  You must be well-informed about what drives the funding status of the pension plan, plan expense, and PBGC/ERISA funding.   You must be able to communicate and work effectively with various groups within Cox Enterprises including the Accounting, Benefits, Legal and Tax teams in addition to external investment and actuarial consultants.  Finally, you must be able to exhibit a confident, professional presence to effectively interact with internal constituents and with the external investment management community.
