Job Description
The Psychiatric Institute of Washington(PIW)has a great opportunity for a Director of Staff Development and Training position. The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for patients suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses with 130 beds. PIW is part of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), one of the nation's largest and most respected health care management companies, operating through its subsidiaries behavioral health facilities, acute care hospitals and ambulatory centers nationwide. Founded in 1978, UHS subsidiaries have more than 65,000 employees. This position is an essential member of themanagement team and is responsible for promoting, planning, designing, coordinating and evaluating training and educational activities for both clinical and non-clinical staff. Duties include, but are not limited to: Coordinates with nursing service in designing, evaluating, planning and presenting and reviewing educational programs to meet the needs of the orientation, in-service education and continuing education of hospital staff. Presents annual plan for staff development based on identified learning opportunities of staff, licensing requirements and OSHA and The Joint Commission standards. Conducts learning needs assessments, makes rounds on patient care units, interacts with all departments and serves on committees in order to identify learning opportunities. Coordinates and trains existing employees on new policies and procedures. Maintains records of general hospital orientation and mandatory in-service attendance. Schedules hospital required in-services and follows up with employees and managers to maintain compliance. Responsible for nursing students and internship programs. Attends seminars and programs related to psychiatric nursing to maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in these areas.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Level Degree from an accredited School of Nursing. Current and valid license in the District of Columbia required.
