Prudential Group Insurance has an exciting opportunity for an experienced business Director to join our newly formed Strategic Initiatives Team, reporting to the VP of Strategic Initiatives. The Strategic Initiatives Team is responsible for business ownership and flawless delivery of critical business investment projects that will help Group Insurance to achieve long term financial growth and expense goals, and optimize customer experience.
This high-energy and engaging individual will be the responsible business owner who leads, coordinates and implements multiple key strategic projects and initiatives across Operations, Business and Systems, to solve complex business issues through process, systems and infrastructure. This leader is a skilled connector who creates strong relationships with key partners in other departments (e.g. Marketing, actuarial, operations, systems, law, etc.) and achieves success by leading and working closely with matrixed partners and teams to design and implement key business solutions. She/he can work independently, providing collaborative day-to-day direction and support, and may oversee the work of more junior staff.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Accountable for delivering highly technical programs and projects which include large/complex/cross-functional strategic and/or technical initiatives that may extend across businesses.
  • Cross functional project owner for strategic initiative project delivery and coordination (vertically and horizontally) across GI for Operations to assure functional project and workstream success per scope, quality, time and cost requirements.
  • Establish strong business partnerships within Operations and across GI to facilitate cross functional partnerships and advance efforts expeditiously.
  • Drive project deliverables related to process excellence, customer experience, change management, technology, and communication deliverables taking into consideration appropriate project strategic components.
  • Facilitates engagement with stakeholders, workstream leads, subject matter experts and project management team members ensuring strategic alignment, clear understanding of project goals and focus on delivering meaningful outcomes.
  • May include management responsibility of strategic initiatives managers.

  • 10 years business experience, preferably in the financial services industry with at least 5 years’ experience in a leadership or project role. Group Insurance experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record of managing complex, highly technical projects across functions and business lines.
  • Ability to balance structure and flexibility, with a drive toward results and accountability.
  • Strong executive presence and experience dealing with senior business leaders, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed leadership, management and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to excite and lead others in a highly collaborative environment.
