Job Details

Pfizer's Worldwide Research and Development (WRD) Unit is seeking a Director of WRD Strategy to join the SPINE (Strategy, Portfolio, competitive INtelligence and Enterprise operations) Group. The Director of WRD Strategy will work as part of a team of R&D strategy professionals who are responsible for building out and evolving the core global R&D strategy for Pfizer's Worldwide R&D organization, as well as play a key role in representing WRD in corporate strategic initiatives, such as integration planning. In a highly visible position, the incumbent will work with multiple Pfizer stakeholders to develop and integrate strategic insights across WRD and the broader organization into decision making. She/he will also support senior leadership team discussions at the WRD and enterprise levels. While we have a preference for this position to be based out of Pfizer headquarters in New York City, NY, for the right leader, we would be open to Cambridge, MA or Groton, CT.







Key Responsibilities







+ Help identify and set annual strategic objectives and priorities for WRD



+ Drive efforts to build out and evolve the overall strategy and strategic frameworks for Worldwide R&D (WRD) in collaboration with key stakeholders across WRD and the broader organization



+ Lead selected initiatives to advance WRD strategy and priorities including supporting qualitative and quantitative analyses



+ Play critical role in identifying and implementing solutions to enhance R&D productivity across WRD



+ Lead select initiatives to optimize organizational structure and operating model



+ Work with others on the SPINE strategy team to lead strategic and planning efforts for M&As



+ Play key role in crisp articulation of R&D accomplishments & strategy for Board of Directors & Pfizer Executive Leadership Team (ELT)



+ Support key corporate strategic initiatives that involve important R&D aspects/considerations







Qualifications



Work and Educational Experience







+ 5-7 years of Bio-pharma experience (including R&D experience), either at Bio-pharma company and/or top-tier management consulting firm with Pharma focus



+ 4+ years experience from top-tier management consulting firm or in-house strategy experience at Bio-pharma company strongly preferred



+ Advanced degree in drug discovery relevant topic - M.D., Pharm.D., or Ph.D. in life sciences a plus



+ Experience and familiarity with the Pfizer organization, particularly R&D/Business Units/Corporate Strategy a plus



+ MBA or hands on demonstrated experience in a variety of key business models and frameworks a plus

+ In-depth understanding of Pharma R&D strategy, processes and operations, with proven track record of successful strategy development and implementation



+ Strategic thinker; strong analytical and problem solving skills and business acumen



+ Ability to lead complex matrixed teams and experience in working with/presenting to senior executives



+ Well organized, creative, independent, self-motivated individual with exceptional presentation, written, and oral communication skills



+ Ability to motivate others to maintain a high and consistent level of excellence in strategy development, project management and outcomes
