Job Summary:
The Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Apprentice contributes to PepsiCo Beverages Canada’s success by performing scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), trailers, lift-gates, heaters, vans, pallet jacks and forklifts. This individual also disassembles and overhauls motors, transmissions, clutches, rear ends and electrical systems. This position is located at the Edmonton, AB facility.

This position is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension.

Availability: 10 hour shifts, 4 shifts a week.
Travel: Rotation between mobile and working in the fleet shop

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary
  • Respond to road calls
  • Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records
  • Maintain cleanliness in areas of work
  • Maintain records of daily check list (pre-trip inspections)
  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and productive manner
  • Follow the direction of Fleet Supervisor/Manager

Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 2nd year apprentice or higher (3rd year preferred) Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiar with maintaining forklifts, walkie riders, floor washers and pallet jacks
  • Province of Alberta - Commercial Vehicle Inspectors Certificate preferred
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Cost exposure to the company is greater than $1,000
  • Ability to work alone and be on call when necessary
  • Valid Class 1 license is an asset
  • Forklift experience, preference will be given to individuals with a Forklift Certificate but all must obtain
  • Familiar with the safe operation of hand tools
  • Team player who shows initiative, reliability and flexibility
