Pfizer (Perth) Pty Ltd is a Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility located in Bentley, supplying products to over 80 countries. We have an exciting opportunity to join the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team as an occupational hygiene / EHS specialist. Operating within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, the position is responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, and monitoring of occupational hygiene and environment, health and safety management programs for the Perth site. This is to be achieved in compliance with the various State EHS statutory requirements and Pfizer Corporate EHS guidelines. The prime objective of this position is to work as part of a team to coordinate Occupational Hygiene and Environment, Health and Safety activities across the site and maintain a functioning Environment Health and Safety Management System.







Key duties for this role will include:







+ Occupational hygiene management, risk assessment and monitoring



+ Undertake regular industrial hygiene air sampling.



+ Assist in the development and implementation of EHS Strategy.



+ Coordinate cross functional meetings to discuss safety initiatives including toolbox meetings and huddles.



+ Liaise with external EHS service providers to ensure timely and effective delivery of services.



+ Maintenance of all necessary Environment Health and Safety licenses.



+ Be conversant with Corporate EHS Guidelines and facilitate their implementation.



+ Assist in the investigation, documentation and follow up of EHS incidents and hazards.



+ Assist departments by performing and coaching colleagues in risk assessment.



+ Manage site EHS metrics and Leading Safety Indicators providing input to the site EHS Leader based on analysis and trending.



+ Co-ordinate and undertake chemical storage and handling audit of site.



+ Co-ordinate and assist EHS Lead in undertaking 3rd party facility audits of waste contractors.



+ Coordinate the Environmental Management program.



+ Facilitate functional emergency planning and control organizations



+ Conduct ergonomic risk assessments of production and laboratory areas.



+ Actively participate in the design and implementation of cultural change / improvement initiatives







Successful applicants must meet the following criteria.







+ Tertiary qualification in the appropriate Occupational Hygiene / EHS discipline.



+ Minimum 5 years of EHS experience, preferably within the manufacturing industry.



+ Experienced in occupational hygiene monitoring and management (certified occupational hygienist is highly desirable)



+ Experience in successful delivery of cultural change programs is highly desirable



+ Able to communicate with employees at all levels.



+ Dynamic attitude with an ability to lead and motivate others.



+ Comfortable making good decisions in a timely manner.



+ Able to prioritise and work under pressure.



+ Demonstrated experience in applied problem solving tools and root cause analysis (Taproot, Six Sigma or similar).



+ A broad understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and good manufacturing practices.



+ Well-developed computer, written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
