The Product Operations team in Cisco's Supply Chain Organization is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide Product Engineering  to reside and provide support to our team in Shanghai, China as well as work with our team in San Jose, CA and Richfield, Oh. The Electrical Product Engineer (EPE) will provide new product and on-going engineering support for a specific family of products from early conceptual designs through end of life.  Interfaces and partners closely with Electrical Design Engineering, Hardware & Compliance Engineering, extended partners within Supply Chain Operations and the Contract Manufacturing partners to manage the NPI and sustaining product support requirements.
 
New Product Introduction responsibilities (NPI) involve influence and action related to the optimal Cost, Quality and Delivery of the products throughout the supply chain and customer environment. DfX is a primary focus area involving design for manufacturability, assembly, test, cost, quality, supply chain and customer use within the new product development process.
 
Sustaining product engineering responsibilities are highly focused to Value Engineering and technical expertise to support action and issues found during the lifecycle of the product.
 
 What You'll Do 

The Enterprise Switching Product Operations team in Cisco's Supply Chain Organization is seeking an Electrical Product Engineer to reside in Austin TX. Our team supports the Enterprise Switch Business Unit which is based in Austin, TX and San Jose, California, USA. Our products contain leading edge technologies which make them the best in the industry. The product platforms are Catalyst 2K, 3K and 4K.
The Electrical Product Engineer (EPE) will provide new product and on-going engineering support for a specific family of products from early conceptual designs through end of life. Who You'll Work With
The Electrical Product Engineer will partner closely with the Cisco Development organization including HW Development Engineering, Compliance and Safety, Program Management organization and other extended partners within the Supply Chain Organization and the Contract Manufacturing partners located throughout the globe.


Our Product Engineers provide new product and on-going engineering (including DFx) support for a specific product or group of products from pre-concept commit through end of life. Interface with design, process, test and reliability engineering to solve problems. Sustain products with cost reduction and design related yield improvements.
 
You will be the local technical point of contact for ODM/JDM suppliers
               Review ODM/JDM manufacturing test plans
               Assist in the bring up of prototypes
               Act as the liaison for the US team and Shanghai Team
               Monitor and resolve technical issues
For Cisco internal designed products, you will be responsible for:
              Developing the electrical portions of the product (PCBA)             
              Development and Dfx, etc.
              Working with functional groups to deliver cost/quality/timely delivery
              Write and Review Technical Documents as needed
              Work with Component Engineering and Commodity Management to develop a robust Supply Chain
              
Must professionally represent Cisco when dealing with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
Flexibility to join phone conferences during early or late hours with global teams on a regular basis.
Self-motivated, willing to manage day-to-day tasks with minimal direct supervision while communicating with the US team (when needed).
International travel required occasionally.
Participate with other local Cisco team members in volunteer activities and fun events.
 
 
 
Who You Are
You should have a minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering. Some key skills and competencies required for the role are a strong knowledge of the commodities used in the electrical systems of Cisco products, working knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems used for Network Equipment. Strong knowledge and expertise of all aspects of DFx, the systematic consideration of manufacturing issues in the design and development process, facilitating the fabrication of the product's components and their assembly into a more reliable, manufacturable and serviceable product. The ability to work effectively in a diverse and cross-functional team environment. You must possess strong communication and influence skills while working in a very collaborative and results-oriented team environment. Experience in printed circuit board (PCB) and (PCBA) manufacturing very preferred, knowledge of RF is a plus!
