The Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) Senior Director, Global Lead (SDGL) will serve as the principal HEOR strategist for the Eliquis program. In collaboration with the asset development team, the SDGL will formulate HEOR strategy and conduct/oversee evidence generation activities, in particular real world data (RWD) studies, to support the Eliquis value story and differentiation. The SDGL is responsible for the overall quality, scientific and technical excellence of HEOR deliverables for Eliquis.

The execution of this leadership position will require close collaboration with Global & Regional stakeholders, as well as with the alliance partner. The SDGL is responsible for managing the Eliquis HEOR team; currently consisting of 6 HEOR specialists.

This position will function with a 'One Patient & Health Impact' mindset and will work in a closely aligned fashion with the Internal Medicine (IM) Cross-Functional Leadership Team (CFLT) members to ensure there is a single and coordinated view on strategy and delivery for PHI to the IM business. This position reports to the VP HEOR, IM.


+ Independently leads HEOR strategy development and implementation to support brand strategies and product positioning.

+ Oversees evidence generation activities, such as: RWD studies of comparative effectiveness and cost; design and implementation of clinical trials with HEOR components; and economic models, aligned with the overall product strategy.

+ Leading and coordinating the work of the Eliquis HEOR team supporting global-, regional- and US-focused activities.

+ Is the lead HEOR interface with the Alliance to plan and coordinate evidence generation efforts supporting the competitive success of Eliquis

+ Able to influence and shape the life cycle management program utilizing individual depth of knowledge and experience in value evidence generation & reimbursement.

+ Primary HEOR interface with Eliquis Global cross-functional leaders to advise on strategic and tactical issues

+ Represent Pfizer's interests in high level interactions with influential bodies (affiliates, international health administration bodies, advocacy groups, specialty associations, etc.).

+ Provides leadership and personal development to the Eliquis HEOR team


+ PhD in relevant discipline (health services research, epidemiology, health economics, psychology, etc.) with 10+ years of work experience in the conduct of outcomes research to evaluate health care interventions.

+ Or a Master's degree in relevant discipline with 13+ years of pharmaceutical research experience in several therapeutic areas evaluating health care interventions with 5+ years of that research experience conducting health economics, health related quality of life and epidemiology studies in the pharmaceutical industry.

+ Has substantial technical knowledge and extensive experience of planning and delivering HEOR programs, particularly RWD studies, across multiple therapeutic areas, with significant experience in the cardiovascular area. Has wide professional networks and established reputation within external OR community.

+ Has wide experience and knowledge of the external OR/Clinical/Regulatory/ Reimbursement environment and has made substantial and innovative contributions to the development and direction of the Outcomes Research discipline. Demonstrated track record of progressive contribution through scientific publications, posters, presentations in clinical and/or health services journals/conferences.

+ Prior experience working in a matrix team is required and previous experience leading a matrix team or direct management experience is preferred.


+ Ability to travel internationally (approx.. 4 times per year)
