Digitisation / Smart Cities Enterprise Architect

The Smart City Enterprise Architect is responsible for the creation, maintenance and management of smart city architecture models and their lower level components. He/She takes ownership of defining the complete smart city architecture strategy, translates it into smart initiatives and builds the architecture models across the business (smart city processes and use cases), data (data virtualization and aggregation), applications (smart applications and APIs) and other technology solutions and platforms.

It is expected that the Digitisation / Smart Cities Enterprise Architect will be delivering outcomes for Cisco’s Advanced Services engagements for IoE and Smart City solutions, with responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
  • Pre-Sales based Proposal Development and Consulting.
  • RFP Development/Response Process Experience.
  • Project Delivery Effort/Cost Estimation.
  • Strong CxO level Presentation Skills.
  • Strong Written skills (Expected to be developing and delivering Consulting Reports on paid delivery engagements).
  • Background of working within large industrial enterprises or government/government owned entities (e.g. Utilities).
  • Experience leading diverse skilled multi-discipline technical delivery teams, across organisations in delivering solutions that drive business and/or city outcomes..
  • Experience leading customer workshops.
  • Experience with use case development.
  • Experience with customer requirements specifications.
  • Experience working with multiple cultures ideally in a regional role capacity.
  • Experience with a wide range of technologies both at the infrastructure and application layer.
Ideally having come from a consulting or enterprise architecture background,
the Digitization / Smart Cities Enterprise Architect will have experience in numerous areas from the outlined list below. They will have the opportunity to grow their own personal skills to encompass the wider level of expertise:
  • At least 10 to 15 years of experience working with or within larger (SMART) cities and/or proven track record of creating significant impact in multinational organizations.
  • Experience with Public / Government Departments, and knowledge of urban planning practices, new estate development, the planning and construction cycle, in addition to other sectors like Retail, Hospitality, Sports Venues, Hospitals and other smart building, precinct, districts, universities and cities.
  • Designs, models, and documents high level complex systems involving the interplay of numerous interrelated components of a Smart City to achieve its business objective while managing the challenges and the risks.
  • Experience in Sales of Smart City Solutions and Platforms, Security CCTV, access controls, Surveillance equipment, Parking, Lighting, Environment, Traffic and Transport, User Experience and Mobile Applications.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge and experience with concepts, architectures, and deployments. 
  • Possesses at least 5-10 years experience in the design, and modelling, of the logical and conceptual relationship of systems, databases and applications for complex Smart City applications.
  • Has a minimum of 5-10 years in-depth knowledge of numerous technologies BMS, Oracle, Sybase, DB2, and SQL Server, and the use of their respective query language to extract the information required.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of web services and application interfaces including the design and development of net-centric systems.
  • Has extensive experience in a collection of Software Development methodologies.
  • Strong systems engineering background with 10-15 years experience in building large, complex computer systems including experience with Big Data, Hadoop, VLDB (Very Large Database) systems, redundancy and disaster recovery plans (including providing for COOP), and performance analysis and tuning to obtain optimal performance from the system.
  • Represent Cisco for industry panel discussions and present training for customers at technical conferences.
  • Influence technology directions and decisions with Cisco business units. Work closely with other Cisco business units in bringing new technology information to the AS group and customers.
Qualifications and Experience

Possessing good contacts with Government agencies with high levels of comfort engaging with Government and large corporate environments to deal with senior officers.
  • Good background in dealing with complex environments and should have worked in well known organisations with significant reference projects.
  • Good Understanding and Exposure in IT companies will be a definite plus.
  • Good interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
  • Able to interpret; basic multi-disciplinary drawings, basic plan and profile drawings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Preferably degree educate, BEng/Meng (Computing, Telecommunications, Electrical), BS/MS (Computer Science, IT) plus 10-15 years’ experience in consulting with government or enterprise organisations.
  • Exposure to a wide range of IT Systems and Infrastructure environments
  • Experience and strong knowledge of enterprise architecture, data modelling, software architectures, network and infrastructure solution architectures.
Desired Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to execute on documentation and presentations
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, leadership and mentoring skills
  • TOGAF and PMP Certified
