The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) is a 385-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC, next to the Foggy Bottom metro. GW Hospital serves a diverse group of patients — from local residents to our nation’s leaders. The service worker performs detailed cleaning of designated patient areas (rooms, individual lavatories), exam rooms, nursing stations, public areas (restrooms) and ancillary areas on a specific floor or may perform cleaning in specialized areas, using a seven step cleaning process.

The Housekeeping worker utilizes wheeled and hand-held cleaning equipment; elevator access within an eight story hospital and linoleum flooring. The Environmental Services office is located in the basement. Assigned to floor coverage, one area of two or three on a floor, which may include up to 35-40 rooms (28 patient rooms and bathrooms) or to a specialized area.


Job Requirements


  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills, including good communication.
