Are you a culinary artist who uses food as your medium?  Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef 1 at Georgia Institute of Technology located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Georgia.  

The position drives culinary excellence at Brittain Community Restaurant, one of three resident dining facilities on the Georgia Tech campus serving 4500 board plans.  Brittain operates Sunday through Friday and averages 9500 meals weekly during the fall and spring semesters. 

 

The Executive Chef I reports directly to the Campus Executive Chef and works in concert with Brittain’s Unit Manager and Food Service Manager, completing a three-person management team.  The location has approximately 30 frontline (hourly), Sodexo-paid employees which includes multiple levels of culinary experience and skill.  The Executive Chef I position will assist with campus-wide culinary events throughout the year and will also oversee The Klemis Campus Kitchen, a campus-wide community kitchen providing for students who are food insecure.

 

This Executive Chef will typically work a Monday through Friday schedule with some flexibility needed for occasional schedule variations.

 

The ideal candidate:

  • has high volume culinary production experience in Campus/University, Hotel, or Banquet setting
  • is committed to providing the highest level of culinary services with demonstrated success in team development.
  • focuses on creating an exceptional dining experience by maintaining the highest level of food quality, presentation, and creativity
  • is technically competent in unit financial management with proven experience ordering, maintaining food and labor cost, and controlling inventory.
  • possesses a strong understanding of food safety and HACCP standards and ability to drive employee accountability for sanitation standards.
  • strives to be a team leader within the kitchen and strives to uphold the highest standards for themselves and their team
  • demonstrates culinary creativity and is experienced creating menus that incorporate promotions and interactive student presentations.
  • is an organized professional with effective leadership, communication, time management, interpersonal skills.
  • has experience with procuring and using local ingredients
  • preferably possesses a culinary degree and a CEC Certification through American Culinary Federation

Provides culinary leadership within a small sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
