Unit Description

Sodexo Universities Dining has an opening for a hands-on Executive Chef 1 for Centennial Dining Hall at University of Denver in Denver, CO.  Sodexo’s partnership started with the University of Denver in 1994.  DU offers an exciting and vibrant environment where Sodexo’s best managers learn and grow with our organization. 

 

As a part of our management team, the Executive Chef 1 will report to the Resident Dining Hall Executive Chef 2 and assist in managing our largest “unlimited seconds” dining hall (serving approximately 2000 students/day during the week and 800 on weekends), on-campus bakery, convenience store and space with our catering kitchen. This is a hands-on position, actively participating in the preparation of the dining hall meals. Responsibilities will include assisting with menu planning, ordering, inventory and cost controls, labor management, supervision of staff and active participation in improving our culinary delivery.

 

Reporting to the Resident Dining Hall Executive Chef, the ideal candidate will possess the following: 

  • Leadership and/or management experience of a busy food venue.
  • Culinary leadership experience, preferably on a college/university campus.
  • Degree from culinary institution preferred.
  • Excellent client relations skills and professionalism.
  • Commitment to sustainable practices in purchasing, preparation and labeling products.
  • Proactive hands-on approach that is able to set standards and follow through on meeting those expectations.
  • Seeking bilingual candidates; the ability to speak Spanish will assist in managing this workforce.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a small sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution
Key Duties
-Executes the culinary function
-Customer & Client satisfaction
-Manages food & physical safety program.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
