Unit Description

Sodexo Universities has an opportunity at Dickinson State University located in Dickinson, ND for an Executive Chef 1 to oversee production for Student Dining operation and assist with hands-on involvement in catering.  This role will be heavily involved with the campus community and will be very student centric.  This position will have oversight and mentor approximately 20 frontline employees including student workers. The ideal candidate must have a passion for food and innovation, help manage the food cost, have the ability to think outside of the box and will be trained in all areas of university dining: board operation/ catering/ retail/ safety standards and client relations This position requires a hands-on leader.

Reporting to the General Manager, the ideal candidate should have:

  •  Culinary leadership experience in a high-volume, high-quality food setting.
  • High expectations for customer service and quality of food
  • A good understanding of financials as they to cost controls of food and labor
  • The ability and willingness to develop and train frontline employees.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a small sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution
Key Duties
-Executes the culinary function
-Customer & Client satisfaction
-Manages food & physical safety program.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
