Unit Description

 

Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef 2 for UCONN Medical Center located in Farmington, CT.  Sodexo has been at UCONN Health for over 40 years.   This is one of Sodexo's premiere accounts that has very high retail volume.  Sodexo Operates 5 retail locations across the campus and a new Starbuck's store with $4 million in volume.  This includes high-end  catering for School of Medicine and School of Dental.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for the oversight of the patient meal management operations, successfully coordinating all required tasks through managers, supervisors and front-line staff.  Daily responsibilities include:

  • Hands on management
  • Oversight of quality food production 
  • Scheduling
  • Leadership support to a team of 40+ union employees 
  • Daily interaction with patients, their families and clinical team to ensure patient satisfaction
  • Online purchasing skills
  • Direct client and customer interaction
  • HACCP, regulatory and standards compliance

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
Key Duties
- Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
- Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
- Manages catering & retail areas.
- Customer & Client satisfaction.
- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
-  Manages food & physical safety programs.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
