Unit Description

Sodexo Campus Dining has an opportunity for an Executive Chef 2 for Simpson College located in Indianola, IA, minutes from Des Moines.  This college is located in a beautiful town with approximately 1100 students on meal plans. The Executive Chef will oversee Resident Dining as well as Catering food production, including menu planning and execution.  The team at this account consists of a General Manager, Executive Chef, Retail Manager, and Catering Manager.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following preferred qualifications/experience:

  • 2+ years in a food management position, preferably within a campus setting.
  • Ability to uphold food safety, sanitation and overall workplace standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Experience in food production, menu planning and inventory control.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
Key Duties
- Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
- Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
- Manages catering & retail areas.
- Customer & Client satisfaction.
- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
-  Manages food & physical safety programs.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
