Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an experienced Executive Chef 2 for our Sports & Leisure Division at Rutgers University/Athletics!  The Executive Chef 2 will be responsible for creating an atmosphere that assists in enticing patrons, donors and their families to come for the scheduled sporting events and enjoy the activities.  The Executive Chef 2 will oversee the culinary operations for an innovative, high end catering program for a very high end, high profile client.  Campus athletic facilities include: Football and Basketball Training Tables, 52,454 seat Football Stadium, 1000 seat donors buffet, 5 Luxury Suites, 8,000 seat Basketball Arena/Soccer/concerts/family shows, as well as other contracted athletic facilities on campus.  High profile events include but not limited to a 1000 student/athlete sit down dinner, a 250 donor "50 Yard Line Dinner". All Sodexo venues also host non-collegiate athletic events, such as concerts, cheer sports, high school playoffs, Graduation, Band Competition, etc.

 

Ideal candidate will have:

 

  • College/University/Stadium/Arena culinary experience;
  • Strong culinary background with experience in catering and high volume venues;
  • Emphasis on food presentation, quality, execution, menu design & implementation;
  • Focus on customer service excellence;
  • Demonstrated experience providing strong leadership, including supervision, direction and training, to a diverse team of employees;
  • Focus on food and physical safety and sanitation;
  • Experience managing food and labor cost controls to meet targets;
  • High level of computer literacy and skill-set;
  • Strong understanding of financials and strong analytical thinking skills;
  • Great client relations and a desire to be invested in the local campus/community.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
Key Duties
- Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
- Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
- Manages catering & retail areas.
- Customer & Client satisfaction.
- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
-  Manages food & physical safety programs.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
