Unit Description

Sodexo currently has an opportunity for an experienced Executive Chef at Morningside College located in Sioux City, Iowa. Morningside College is a private, four year, co-educational institution with 25 buildings on a beautiful 70 acre campus in a secure residential area of Sioux City, Iowa with a population of 168,00. The College enrolls more than 1,250 full time students from more than 25 states and several foreign countries.

 

Relocation assistance is provided AND a $3K signing bonus!!

 

The food operation at Morningside College includes one “all–you-care-to-eat” resident dining hall, superior catering operation, full service retail outlet and a We Proudly Brew coffee shop. Reporting to the General Manager, the executive chef will have every responsibility in the culinary operation, the owner of production will mentor approximately 40-50 frontline employees throughout the operation, including two supervisors.

 

The ideal candidate must have the following skills/ experience:

 

  • 5+ years of high end catering and preferably 2+ years of experience in campus/ universities setting.
  • Clear and precise communication skills.
  • Focused on customer service and quality of food.
  • Must have operations financial knowledge.
  • Must have the ability to maintain all safety policies/ procedures

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
Key Duties
- Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
- Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
- Manages catering & retail areas.
- Customer & Client satisfaction.
- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
-  Manages food & physical safety programs.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
